Laura Corlett is a painter based in York. Using mixed mediums of acrylic paint and pencil, her work focuses on her emotions and often are related to mental health or personal experiences throughout her life. Art has always been a part of her life and has often used creating artwork as a therapeutic tool to take whatever is in her head, out. She believes art gives people the chance to express things they are unable to say. With influence from Francis Bacon, Laura creates art with a distorted edge, paying attention to details whilst taking normality out of its comfort zone. Laura is currently aspiring to become an art therapist, where her skills in painting could help others.
